About Ira — World Champion Fighter. Elite Coach. Lifelong Student of the Game.
Ira’s journey in combat sports began in high school and college wrestling, where he built the foundation of discipline, grit, and competitive drive that would shape his entire career. After college, he transitioned into boxing and earned a place on the USA Boxing Team, qualifying for the 2012 USA Olympic Boxing Trials for the London Games. During this time, he won multiple Golden Gloves tournaments and became the runner‑up at the 2011 Ringside World Championships—all while coaching a high‑school wrestling team.
Driven to evolve, Ira entered the world of Mixed Martial Arts, quickly rising through the amateur ranks. He captured multiple amateur titles and was named Regional Amateur MMA Fighter of the Year in 2013. In 2014, he returned to university to study Human Performance, deepening his understanding of athletic development as he prepared for a professional MMA career.
Ira officially turned professional in 2015, competing in underground events reminiscent of Kimbo Slice’s early days—fighting in bars, backyards, and gritty venues that tested his toughness and resolve. His official pro breakthrough came in 2020 when he joined St. Charles MMA, one of the most respected schools in Missouri. There, he became the fastest UFC Fight Pass athlete to win a world title on a major TV network, achieving the feat in just two fights. By 2022, he was ranked #17 in the world at 135 lbs.
After losing the world title to a Brazilian jiu‑jitsu world champion, Ira redirected his competitive fire into grappling. He began competing in ADCC‑sanctioned events, the most prestigious jiu‑jitsu tournaments in the world. In 2024, he earned Second Place at the ADCC World Championships, solidifying himself as one of the top competitors globally. Today, he continues to compete in elite BJJ events around the world at 145 lbs.
Beyond competition, Ira is a builder, teacher, and leader. In 2019, he founded Ira Fight Fit, helping launch boxing gyms, BJJ academies, and fitness programs while working with major fitness clubs. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Human Performance at Lindenwood University, with plans to launch a fully accredited jiu‑jitsu program at the university level.
Faith and service are central to Ira’s life. He leads a Bible Study class at St. Charles MMA, teaches a Faith Over Fear boxing class with Resilient Boxing, and continues to support multiple wrestling programs across the region through seminars and coaching. After years of coaching at the high‑school level, he stepped away to focus on expanding his mission and building the next generation of martial artists.
Today, Ira stands as a world‑class coach and certified personal trainer, dedicated to helping people transform their lives through discipline, technique, and hard work. His expertise spans boxing, wrestling, jiu‑jitsu, self‑defense, strength conditioning, and high‑performance athletic development.
